With more than 30 years of merchandising, marketing and operations experience at companies including Converse, QVC and ghd (“Good Hair Day”), Spiegel will provide executive leadership for all of Newgistics’ marketing and product development initiatives to help retailers and brands understand how they can make the most of every possible customer touchpoint.
Prior to Newgistics, Spiegel was principal at the digital and business consultancy, Spiegel Partners LLC, where he blended his experience in traditional retailing and brand marketing with his technology and ecommerce expertise to help brands build solid digital environments and business strategies. Before founding Spiegel Partners, he served as chief digital and marketing officer of ghd, the world’s premier hair tools company based in London. At ghd, Spiegel led strategy for the company’s online business, which bolstered relationships with the company’s 50,000 salons globally and was able to connect direct to consumers in fourteen countries worldwide.
Spiegel also served as vice president of digital commerce at Converse (a Nike company), overseeing all activities on converse.com, and was responsible for a complete redesign of the company’s online presence and strategy. Under his leadership, Converse helped lead the way in combining cultural content with commerce, driving an increase in revenue and providing a platform to connect its 45 million fans on social media. Spiegel was also a member of Nike’s Global Digital Commerce Leadership Team which helped drive the overall digital commerce strategy of Nike and all of its affiliate companies worldwide.
Earlier in his career, Spiegel was responsible for developing the user experience, merchandise model and marketing campaigns to launch QVC’s online business. Under his leadership, QVC.com became the first general department store on the web and was one of the first sites to offer community-based features, advanced search capabilities and video in online product sales.
